Shipbuilding is a key industry for transport, logistic, fishing, renewable energy, tourism and several emerging blue economy activities, anyway it is primary a manufacturing business. This fact implies it can benefit from the digital innovation paradigm of Industry 4.0 from vessel product to shipyards and the whole supply chain. Although it can take advantage from technologies developed in other sectors, such as automotive, aerospace, ICT etc., the characteristics of vessels and shipping activities require a specific approach towards the digital transformation journey.
The Industry 4.0 becomes Maritime 4.0 to reinforce the research focus to specific blue challenges, to develop innovative digitally connected vessels concepts, to improve the market competitiveness, overall of SMEs, to plan the appropriate skills developments and last, but not least to include the environmental sustainability of vessels and shipbuilding.
A panel of international researchers and industrials from different disciplines and businesses will discuss the potential disruption of the digital innovation of Maritime 4.0 and the market opportunities for technological suppliers.
The participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory. The registration deadline is September 20th at 12 am.
